READ THIS POEM (Sacrifices)

Such sacrifices laid bare
Naked, trembling.
Squashed by a pedestal,
The prized jewel:
Whole with sharp edges
And weighty consequences.
A coveted worth, more
and increasingly expensive
Because inflationary expectations.
It accelerates past my ability
With two pathways in mind,
Of crumbling downfall
Or infinite and exponential increase,
Neverending in its curved line
that speeds with such great intensity
As to burn a hole in the limits
of mankind.
And what lies beneath?
The charred lamb that bears the brunt
of idealism's lost destination.
